WHITEY WHACKS 63

Everybody's favourite opening batsman Tom Whitelaw produced a sparkling 63 to help Old Scotch post an impressive 8 for 207 against Old Geelong at Geelong Grammar Main Oval today.

Unfortunately, it was not enough as a polished Old Geelong batted in partnerships to overrun the Scotchie total in the last over in a nail biting finish.

On the magnificent Main Oval at Geelong Grammar, Matty Dickinson began in barnstorming style to peel off 19 runs of the first 24 scored when he was dismissed by Russell. Shearer and Tom Murray both got starts, but did not kick on as they have so often this season, departing for 14 and 13 respectively.

In form middle order batsman Tim Hosking contributed 27 and with Sam Murray who compiled 21, got the Old Scotch innings ticking along towards the 200. Choudhary contributed a valuable 15 as the score reached a seemingly imposing 8 for 207.

However, it was not to be as the Old Geelong batsmen batted intelligently to reach the target for the loss of six wickets.

The boys are back at home for the last round Blockbuster versus arch rivals Old Xavs in a biblical rematch of last seasons semi final.

The world famous Celebrities never quite got going against fellow strugglers MCC Red at Meares Oval. Posting a slightly sub par 169, the days highlight being the return to form of Mark "Teflon" Griffiths who slashed and cut his way to 46.

In spite of some spirited bowling, MCC Red reached the target with nearly three overs to spare to snuff out the Celebrities finals hopes.

The Celebrities finish the season next week with last seasons semi final rematch with Old Brighton at Brighton Grammar in what should be a spicy encounter.

This may be your last opportunity to see some Scotchies in action, so if you are in the neighbourhood, drop by and lend us your support.
